High School – Rock Point Community School
The Rock Point Secondary School includes grades 7-12. The course of study is comprehensive and demanding, with 23.5 credits required for high school graduation. Class offerings include all the standard core courses in English, math, social studies, and science. Additional required classes include Dine studies in economics, history, government, literacy, and sociology. Electives classes such as computer technology, wood shop, home economics, art, etc. offer students choices in developing their own particular interests and talents.
In addition to the wide variety of academic offering, RPCS’s Secondary school provides numerous opportunities to participate in all major inter mural sports. Active class groups and extracurricular activities such as student council, yearbook club, rodeo club, Native American Culture club, history club help to develop the whole student.
We also facilitate students’ participation in many off-campus summer programs at colleges like the University of Colorado in Boulder and at Dine College in Tsaile. An extensive on-campus enrichment summer program is also available.
Interwoven throughout the philosophy and programs of the school is the goal to help students become fully prepared for modern society, as well as to have a strong sense of who they are and where they come from. It is this sense of cultural identity, we believe, that gives our graduates the poise and confidence to compete in any sphere, and to appreciate the value of any situation they may encounter in their lives.
