ELEMENTARY SOFTBALL IS BACK AT ROCK POINT!
We’re excited to announce the return of Elementary Softball for the 2026 season! Thank you to our families, staff, administrators, and volunteers for supporting our young athletes as they grow, learn, and compete.
The sign‑up deadline for Elementary Softball has passed, and the roster for the 2026 season is now set.
Our Elementary athletes will also participate in RPCS Intrasquad Round Robin games, scheduled after home matchups to provide additional opportunities for our team members to develop and compete. These games are exclusively for students who signed up for the softball team. Students will be divided into three teams, with each team playing two short 35‑minute games. Parent volunteers will be needed.
Let’s cheer from the stands and support our young Cougars.

It may be a short season, but we are beyond excited to see our teams back out on the field! 🙌
Every game is a chance to grow, compete, and represent our school with pride. Let’s show up, cheer loud, and support our athletes all season long! 💪🔥
📅 Check out the schedule below and mark your calendars!

We are excited to announce our upcoming Native Author Visit featuring Alana Yazzie, author of The Modern Navajo Kitchen!
Join us for a special event where Alana will share her story, culture, and passion for bringing traditional Navajo flavors into modern kitchens. This is a great opportunity for our students, families, and community to connect with a Native author and celebrate identity, heritage, and creativity.
Mark your calendars and get ready for an inspiring visit you won’t want to miss!

We warmly invite parents, guardians, and adult community members from Rock Point and surrounding communities to participate in our Community Diné Spelling Bee and Diné Knowledge Bowl. These events are designed to bring our community together in a fun and supportive way while strengthening and celebrating our Diné language.
As lifelong learners, we all play an important role in keeping the Diné language alive. These friendly competitions provide an opportunity to practice, learn, and use the language in meaningful ways—helping ensure it continues to thrive for future generations.
📅 Event Dates:
• Thursday, March 26, 2026 – Diné Spelling Bee
• Tuesday, March 31, 2026 – Diné Knowledge Bowl
📍 Location: Elementary Conference Room
📝 Registration is required: https://forms.office.com/r/wZaDQ17xNf
⸻
Diné Spelling Bee (March 26)
Participants will compete individually in three divisions: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced.
• Words will be spoken aloud, and participants will write them on a whiteboard within a set time.
• Points are awarded for correct spelling using standard Navajo orthography.
• Participants advance through rounds based on their scores, with top scorers recognized at the end.
⸻
Diné Knowledge Bowl (March 31)
Participants will compete in teams of four in two parts:
• Written Round: Teams work together to answer questions and earn points.
• Oral Round: Teams compete head-to-head, buzzing in to answer questions. A “sudden win” round may be used to break ties.
Questions will cover a variety of topics, including language, reading, writing, speaking, music, history, culture, geography, and government—highlighting how Diné language connects to all areas of life.
⸻
These events are not just competitions—they are a celebration of who we are. By coming together to learn, practice, and use the Diné language, we strengthen our identity and support one another as lifelong learners.
We hope to see you there!

We hope all of our Rock Point students and families enjoy a safe and relaxing Spring Break!

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to share how our school calendar is designed to support student learning while also recognizing important Navajo Nation holidays and Navajo moon phases.
Our calendar includes:
• 182 instructional days for students
• Four quarters of approximately 42-49 days each
• Standard holidays and Navajo Nation–recognized holidays
• Winter Break and Spring Break
• Eight Professional Development days for staff
Our Professional Development days allow staff time to:
• Review student achievement data in reading and math
• Adjust instructional plans to meet student needs
• Monitor progress toward our goals of improving achievement and increasing graduation rates
You will also notice that Navajo moon phases are included on the calendar to help families plan around important cultural and traditional activities.
Because our calendar must meet state instructional requirements and our school improvement priorities, the overall structure remains fairly consistent each year. However, we always appreciate feedback from our families and community.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students.
