Dear Parents, Grandparents and Guardians,
Rock Point Community School (RPCS) will observe a two-hour delayed start on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in recognition of the upcoming total lunar eclipse occurring that morning.
In honor of Navajo traditional protocol and in reverence of this significant celestial event, all staff and students will begin school two hours later than their regular start time on March 3, 2026. Bus routes will also operate two hours later than their normal schedule.
The total lunar eclipse will be visible in Northern Arizona during the early morning hours. The
key phases are as follows:
• Penumbral eclipse begins: 1:44 a.m.
• Partial eclipse begins: 2:50 a.m.
• Total eclipse begins: 4:04 a.m.
• Maximum eclipse: 4:33 a.m.
• Total eclipse ends: 5:02 a.m.
• Partial eclipse ends: 6:17 a.m.
• Penumbral eclipse ends: 7:22 a.m.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we uphold and respect Diné cultural teachings and provide our school community the opportunity to observe this time appropriately.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions, please contact the school
at (928) 659-4221.
Respectfully,
Rock Point Community School Administration

The Rock Point Community School extends our deepest condolences to the family of Rex Lee Jim.
Mr. Jim’s roots run deeply through our school and community. He was a student here at Rock Point Community School and a proud member of our first 8th grade promoting class — a milestone that marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to education and service. He later returned to serve as an English Language Arts teacher, where he inspired students through literature, language, and critical thought. He also led the Drama Club, nurturing creativity, confidence, and cultural expression among our youth.
His dedication to Rock Point Community School continued as a valued member of the RPCS Governing Board. Beyond our campus, he served the broader Navajo Nation as a Council Delegate and later as the Navajo Nation Vice President, carrying with him the values of humility, intellect, and advocacy for Diné language and identity.
Across educational institutions and organizations, many have shared how his leadership elevated Indigenous language, culture, and scholarship. For us, his legacy is personal. He was our student, our teacher, our board member, and a leader who never forgot his home.
In honor of Mr. Jim’s service to our school and community, Rock Point Community School will fly our flags at half mast.
We stand in prayer and solidarity with his family, friends, and all who were touched by his wisdom. May we continue to walk in beauty and uphold the language, values, and vision he so passionately championed.
With heartfelt sympathy and respect,
Rock Point Community School

The St. Michael Elementary League Championship games were held Saturday, February 21, at Ganado Field House in Ganado, Arizona, where the Rock Point boys and girls teams proudly represented their school.
The Rock Point girls team battled hard in the championship game but fell to Pinon with a final score of 37–30, earning the Runner-Up title after a strong postseason performance.
The Rock Point boys team captured the league championship in a thrilling contest against Hilltop Christian, securing a 42–39 victory to become this year’s champions.
Boys coach Skye Fatt shared that the biggest challenge this season was balancing practice schedules with academic responsibilities while maintaining team motivation. She expressed that she is most proud of the team’s resilience, teamwork, and the way the players supported one another on and off the court.
Coach Fatt’s coaching philosophy focuses on personal growth, sportsmanship, and teamwork, ensuring that each athlete gains valuable life skills alongside their athletic development. We look forward to these teams' future!
